ABOUT ME

Dedicated to the pursuit of Human Rights, I have a Bachelor of Law and International Affairs from Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia and a Master's of International Affairs from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva, Switzerland. I am fluent in English and German (both Swiss German and High German), a B1-B2 proficiency in French and a basic understanding of Swedish. I have studied German at the University of Duisburg-Essen (2014), Humboldt Universität (2017) and the German Language School in Berlin (2017). Likewise, I have also studied French at the Language International School in Geneva (2018), and Université de Genève (2018). Furthermore, I also undertook a 6-month exchange program at Uppsala Universitet in Sweden (2016) where I completed several modules in international law and human rights.

Professionally, I have worked with projects on four continents that range from applying constitutional clauses to promote indigenous land rights in Sabah, Malaysia to monitoring and evaluating a Liberian women’s empowerment project with aimed to prevent election violence through a dialogue with youth gang leaders. Since 2017, I have been predominantly based in Europe where I have worked in two international research think tanks in Denmark and The Netherlands that covered a range of topics pertaining to EU security and analysing future threats. I have also worked at the World Economic Forum with the events operations team, and I took part in the Annual Meeting in Davos 2020 where I assisted in the overall set up (logistics and organisation), supported the IT team and shadowed the cyber-security team. My time in Europe has allowed me to become very familiar with EU security policy, regional geopolitics and international organisations based in both Geneva and the Hague.

However, my background has also focused heavily on development projects - primarily in sub-Saharan Africa. Beginning in 2011, when I undertook an 8-month volunteer program in Kenya to support disadvantaged communities living in slums and IDP camps. Since then, I have worked on projects throughout West Africa which include violence prevention in Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Ghana to rehabilitation projects for former violent extremists in Mali. My work has also included EU funded policy recommendations which explored the nexus between trafficking in Small Arms and Light Weapons and terrorist financing - considering both the direct and indirect uses of SALW - including kidnapping, extortion, drug /illicit trafficking etc. This project focused primarily on the tri-border area between Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso, and the Lake Chad riparian countries of Nigeria, Niger, Cameroon, and Chad. While additional research was undertaken in the MENA region - Syria, Libya, and Yemen.

My passion is for human rights, public policy and global security and my past experiences demonstrate my flexibility to meet any challenge in front of me without hesitation. I am driven and very comfortable stepping outside of my comfort zone. I hope you have learned a little bit about me, and I would love to hear about you so please feel free to contact me if you would like to hear more about my motivations or past experiences. I look forward to hearing from you.
